The Biggest Danger To Our Homes Is Water Damage

If you ask people down the street right now what they are most afraid of when it comes to dangers in their houses, they would surely say a lot of different things but some of them would be constant for everyone.
They would cite burglars and vandals or other forms of physical destruction caused by other people. Others would mention fire and the fact that it is very destructive in a lot of ways. Fire can destroy homes and can kill people in an instant and it also can be very scary in itself. What people will always mention last, if ever at all, would be water damage.
This is perhaps because it is not as dramatic as the first two that we mentioned. There is no real element of physical danger that can be deemed from water damage. When people think about it, the image that comes into our head is not one of us running away from a dangerous fire or us running after some punk who is trying to steal from our house.
The image that we have in our minds is a pipe that drips one drop of water every three seconds. This is why nobody talks about it much and it would sound so silly to think of it as a problem. Yet if you look at statistics, it will show that the amount spent for fixing property due to water damage is far more than that of fire damage and damage due to vandals and robberies.
Sure, fire can destroy million dollar homes and robberies can cost a lot if the things that were stolen were of some value. However, these two rarely happens while damage caused by water is really experienced by every household. Some people may simply not recognize it and here are some examples of damage caused by water:
1. documents that have gotten wet
2. rotting wood in the house
3. stains that cannot be removed
4. collapsed ceilings
5. leaking roof during rain
6. flooding due to clogged pipes
There are actually a lot more examples if you think about it and all of them are things that we repair at one time or another. Fixing a roof can cost a lot of money and so does unclogging the pipes of whatever that is blocking it. Our documents are priceless and some of them may cost some dough as well if we try to get a new copy of them. We should not therefore disregard this danger. As we have seen, it could be the biggest danger we are up against.
