If you live in California, then you know that there is a lot of damage from flood waters. California has not only had the flooding caused by the huge amounts of rain but the damage that they had from the terrible fires of a few weeks ago. Now they are having trouble with mudslides that will do a lot of damage by itself. When you have heavy rains, you yourself might not end up with the terrible damage of maybe your roof falling in, but you will end up with some kind of water damage from all of this setting water.
When you are asked to evacuate an area by the local officials, you won”t be able to get back into the area until they say it is okay to, and most of the time the damage had time to set in by then. In some cases, you might be told you can go into the area, but the water hasn”t gone away or the road might have so much mud still on the road to your home that you might still have to wait. As mudslides can do damage to your homes, too, you will need to look at your foundation. If you see that a lot of mud is around your home and it doesn”t look to be right, then you might have some damage to your foundation. As this mud is heavy, it might make your home move off of this foundation causing you all kinds of problems.
You will have to check your gas lines to make sure that they don”t have any cracks; the same will have to be done to the water lines going into the home. Also check on your sewer lines to make sure that they are okay. The more amount of rain you receive will determine the amount of water damage you could end up with. When you have a lot of heavy rain that will last for a while, the roofs on buildings can start to fall in or the trees on your neighborhood street can start to fall down or their limbs will fall down in the yards.
This water will travel into and under the doors of these buildings, causing all sorts of damage to everything in the room. It will also run down the stairs of your homes into your basements causing them to flood. When this water gets into your basement, it will put out your pilot light making this water very flammable because of the gas that is being released into the water. This can become more deadly to anything in its path.
