Have you ever come home to find the top of your faucet gone and the water coming out of it going all over your home? Did this happen while you were away so that when you came home you had a lot of water on your floor, ceilings and whatever happened to be next to it? Do you have a shut-off close by or do you have to go find the main? If you do not know where this main shut-off is you could have a really big problem and mess to fix when you are able to find it.
You should call in the professionals to come and put in whatever you will need to see that this does not happen again. With this situation you will have to have all of this water cleaned up. Then you will have to have them put in a new faucet and you will also want them to install a shut-off next to this pipe so that the next time you do not have to waste time running around your house looking. If you do not have these shut-offs at all of the places that have a water line then you should have them put on these as well.
This will mean the pipes under all of the sinks in your home, the bathtub or shower, that side-by-side refrigerator with that ice maker even the dishwasher. You should even have one on the water lines to you washing machine. All of these places can end up with some kind of break in its lines and if you do not have these shut-offs you will really have a pretty big mess before you can get to that main shut-off. Even those faucets in your home should be replaced every so often. These faucets wear out and break every few years so it is a good thing to maybe keep a list of the times you chance any of them.
Having this list will keep you from having to guess when the last time was that you replaced a pipe or faucet. You should put any repairs that you have done on this list so that you will know when it might be the next time to have it changed out. You can also use this list to show the new buyers of this home if you should decide to sell it. You will be able to show these people what has been done and it might make it so that you can ask a little more on the price of this home.
